Entry Door Doesn't Want To Close

So, just before bed last night I pull the door in to close it and BOING - it springs right back out.

This is not good. Slamming the door will keep it closed but it is under tension and wants to spring back.

I think (the operable word is THINK) that there is a clearance issue with the metal arm that prevents to door from over-extending upon opening.

Newmar wants $550.00 for it.

Any thoughts on repairs/replacement without making a mortgage payment?

Mark

Just wondering if the leveling jacks are not set correctly and are twisting the frame? Try raising the jacks and try the door again.

Can you remove the arm, then test shut the door. That will tell you if it's the arm or not.

Hi Doc,
FWIW , I bought the door holding arm from PTL Engineering in MI.
810-664-2310. I think they also have a website.
Paid about $120 with shipping.

I just spent $ 300+ on buying a new Tri-Mark and having it installed. Repairman said it was an old, old, old style that they had to buy from the factory.

I am a Ftimer with a 1999 Dutch Star. I guess it HAS been opened and closed a little over the last 15 years.

Mark

Had the exact thing happen us and it was the locking arm at the top of the door. Fortunately, it was repaired under warranty...but those days are gone now. :-((

I had the same issue on my 2014 MADP- check to ensure the door latch stud protruding from the latch side of the door frame is all the way down. It can move up & down (3/8") on my coach & you can accidentally hit it ore catch your clothes on it when entering & it will raise up. This will stop the latch from engaging.

Good luck & Happy Trails

X2. Had this happen on our 2015 Ventana. I also sprayed it with WD40 and that helped
