Entry door key pad won't unlock door

Hello,

The key pad will no longer unlock the door - it "beeps" - that's it. The remote fob will not unlock the door either.

What is the most likely the issue?

Thanks!

Hi,

Batteries, re-program? Keep those keys handy.

Best wishes.

I found that the keys wear out. Believe the keys were made by Essex in carpentria ca. I've change ours three times.

Does the unlock switch work? .... usually on the dash. I think mine is labeled "entry lock".

There are usually a set of contacts on the door edge that match up with another set on the door jab. They should be located on the inside edge, not the outside edge where the latches are located.

Those contacts get dirty and corroded so they need to be cleaned up and shiny. I use a Dremel and a sanding disk to brighten up the contacts until the next time it is needed.

Hanging around the coast where there is lots of salty air causes the contacts to corrode quicker.

My vote is for cleaning the contacts in the door jamb. Easy to do; you can use electric contact cleaner if you don't want to use an abrasive. It worked for me when I had the same issue you have

Agree that the culprit is likely the contacts. Mine had to be replaced by Newmar to make the door keypad work. It was doing the same thing as yours.

We had a problem where the key fob, the passenger armrest mounted cargo switch, and the keypad all went kaput.

I pulled two fuses in the compartment under the drivers seat...for the system...and put them back in. The circuit board rebooted and worked fine after that.

I had similar symptoms in my 2014 King Aire. Turns out that the fuse for the dash 12 volt receptacles had blown and this was the cause. Replaced the fuse and it has worked fine ever since. I don't know what the relationship is and the guys at Newmar didn't know either. But it was clearly the cause since simply replacing the fuse fixed the problem.

The fuse is in the electrical panel in the outside compartment that's under the drivers seat.
