Maybe a dumb question but is there a way to stop the steps from operation? I turned the baterry switch to the stored position figuring that would deactivate any 12 Volt power to the coach but the steps still operate. My previous moho had two switches the main and aux. and when put in the off position, all was off. What might I be missing here? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a "Step Switch", perhaps in the right front cabinet over the passenger's side of the windshield.

Thanks for the reply Route 66. I found the step switch, it is in the cabinet over the entry door. I have it turned off and the battery switch in the stored position but the steps still work. In looking at the electrical center located under the hood I see a 5 amp fuse for the steps. Possibly by pulling the fuse is the only way to de-activate the steps but I would have thought there would be another way. ??????

Hi Steve,
Can you explain what you mean by the steps still work?

This is how my coach works. The following is based on the assumption the engine is off and the ignition key is in the off position. With the step switch in the on position, the steps will retract when the door closes and extend when the door opens. With the step switch in the off position, the steps will remember their last position and go to that position when the door is closed. The steps should always extend when the door opens. The steps should always retract when the door is closed and the ignition switch is in the on position.

Try this. Turn the step switch to the on position. Close the door and let the steps retract. Open the door and let the steps extend. With the door open and the steps extended, move the step switch to the off position. Close the door. The steps should remain extended.

The steps are powered by the chassis battery(s).

GaryKd,
I'm sorry I was a little vague on the explanation. My steps operate just as you have posted. My problem is when I park in front of the house and go to get out, the steps extend hit the curb and jam. "NOT GOOD" With my old coach I could turn all power off before I exited the unit to observe if I'm sitting alright where I am parked. Once this is accomplished I can extend my jacks, lift the coach to level and the steps then extend with no problem. Anyway, yesterday when I took it to storage I have NO idea what order I went through to do this but when I exited the coach the steps did not extend. Go Figure??? Now if I could only get it to do this when I'm at home that would be great.

My steps will stay in if I have the ignition in the off position and I turn off the steps prior to opening the door. We do this all the time to sweep out dirt from the inside step area. Perhaps your steps would work the same way.

There is a fuse for the steps in the electric bay. (Where the power cord is.) Pull off the large panel cover and there are several fuses there on pigtails. One is for the steps. I understand this circuit is always hot even with the inside switch in the Store position.
