Erratic Lippert steps

The steps on our 2015 DS have a mind of their own. They sometimes work but most of the time remain silent. Thankfully in the retracted position. A mobile tech guy pulled out one of the magnets on the door, rotated it a little and the steps operated. Rotated it in the other direction and the steps retracted. Lippert believes it is the motor and Newmar believes it is the magnet. Any thoughts as to the problem, we are in Key West for another months so going North to a dealer is not an option at this point in time.

Have Newmar send the magnet. If it fixes the problem you are done if not call them back and they can then send the motor.

Agree. The progression should go from easy to less easy.
