My gray tank readings are way off. It takes quite a lot of liquid to start indicating what's in the tank. When it goes up to 40 gallons, it then jumps to 65 gallons.
Is there a way to calibrate this? My other tanks seem to read correctly.

Yes you have a way of calibrating your tanks which is newer than my old tank adjustment levels.
Scroll down this thread for new tank adjustments.

I don't think you can calibrate an E-Plex system that you have in your Essex. Throw a jug of Dawn Dish washing liquid down the shower drain and fill the grey tank and drive to the next dump station. Mine did the same thing. Cleaned up and works fine now. It takes about 5 gallons in before it starts registering but it's right on. Mine did exactly like yours. '06 Essex. Does your better half dump bacon grease down it like mine does?

That's what I was afraid of. I did try a similiar procedure with little change.

Yep, one of the big mysteries of RVing...we can build a space ship that can go to the moon, we can build devices that read your license plate from space, but we cannot build a cheap and reliable device that reads tank levels.
http://www.controlengeurope.com/arti...l-sensors.aspx
They make a guided wave radar lever transmitter, but the device and read out is way beyond what the average person will spend on an RV system.

The E-Plex can only be programmed by Newmar as the E-Plex software is propriety. Hopefully a good tank cleaning will bring it back to life.

When the shower stall fills up it's time to dump.

If cleaning does not work, you will need the eplex software to rebuild the "table of values" that will display the gallons in the tank. Not hard to do if you can get the software, trouble is Newmar and Eplex does not want to share the software with us lowly owners. The reason is in the inexperienced hand it can cause more trouble than it fixes.

Well I guess I will have to add cleaning with dish washer detergent for correct tank readings in the ESSEX, how about the King Aire does it have the same E-Plex system?

OldHiker,
Right now I'm going through the same thing as you except with the black tank. I've tried all the dawn soap, fill-dump-flush, travel, etc. suggestions to no avail. Actually the more I cleaned the tank the worse the readings got. Finally over a 1 week period with the coach in storage the level indication went from 25 up to 45 gal on it's own.
I have received from tech support a new sensor assy. It's mounted in the side of the tank at the top. I'll see if I can get Ironman to take and post a photo for me. I can look up behind the cover panel and see it up high behind a BUNCH of water lines.

The Essex, King Aire, and London Aire would all have the E-Plex system.
Not sure about the Mountain Aire.

If you have access to the tank bay where the tanks live, you can purchase a great Tank level Indicator system made by SeeLevel. They are not that expensive and have 100 % reliability if you install the sensors on the tanks correctly.
You must use duct tape to get the sensors positioned correctly then remove the double sided tape cover and stick the sensor onto the tank at the identified position.
Wiring is simple and easy.
