Anyone with an Essex get an area rug? Apparantly, as a way to cut costs, the 2009's didn't come with an area rug for the living room - and, I need one. I can get one from the factory for $600, but so far I haven't seen what it would look like. I haven't checked around, but I'm betting that I can have one made for less than that. I've tried the standard 5x7 and 6x9, but the wife doesn't like how they fit.
Can anyone describe the $600 rug in their coach or offer suggestions for an alternative?

This may not be suitable in your coach but it works for us. Home Depot sells a non-backed outdoor carpet. In our case it's a camel color with a texture. I bought enough to make a cover for the carpet at the top of the entry steps and an oval shaped LR area rug. I think the whole think was about $35. It can be washed with soap and water. When we see something better or it gets too worn we just throw it away.

Not an Essex, but a King Aire here.
Newmar's comment to me when I asked why there was no area rug in the 09s was "most people didn't actually want the area rug". I guess we were an exception.
Our desk chairs were wearing the slide carpet down in our desk area, so we decided to get an area rug made similar to the one that came with our 2008 coach. I checked around and Newmar's prices were actually the best.

Sue - Did you end up getting the rug from Newmar? What is the size/shape/color?

Yes.
Our coach's interior color is Watercress. The main area rug is 72 x 48. The carpet is Fabrica, style Coronado, color Solana. The rug trim style is Fabrica, style Calais, color Jardin. Unlike the main rug, the desk area rug we ordered in May from Newmar is entirely Calais, which was a lot cheaper than ordering the rug entirely Coronado or using both Calais and Coronado. Coronado is a saxony carpet and is more expensive than Calais. The custom rug we ordered was 73 x 60 with a 17 x 13 cutout in the top middle of the rug. We're very pleased with how the rug turned out.

Thanks for the detailed rug info, Sue. I think we'll probably have a rug made (solid color with a border), but I'm still curious about what rug Newmar was providing as standard on the prior year Essex models. I thought it was an oval shape with swirls.

You're correct about the Essex rug. I think the King Aire's rug was rectangular because the coach's interior is contemporary.

Randy, I think it is just a matter of preference. Also, depends on how much you stay in one place. We always left it in the basement as we had to lay it on the sofa or bed when driving--the slide wouldn't go over it. We did bring it in when we would stay for a couple of weeks at Breckinridge.

For traveling, we roll each rug up and put a bungee cord around each and then place them in the bedroom so they're out of the way.
