Just a quick update...I am the proud owner of a new upgraded potable water pump and restored running water in my Essex. I extend a huge grateful thank-you to Perry White for his excellent help and advice. You made this seemingly difficult task so much easier. Thank-you also for the iRV2.com RV Community site. What an excellent site!
I'm a woman who has enjoyed many miles of traveling in my 45' Essex but now feel more secure knowing there is great people on this site that are so kind to give excellent advice and generous help. Thank-you!

havasu girl:

I'm VERY interested in this thread since we're experiencing the same kind of dripping from the pump in our 08 EX. It's not a continuous thing, but pretty frequent, and as I too am not a contortionist, and...although I can see the pump mounted on the right hand lateral wall of our water bay just behind and mostly above the bottom edge of that white panel, I've been pretty reluctant to try and disconnect all the fittings on that water bay mounting panel and remove it. I've poked around trying to see if I might remove the pump without having to remove that panel, but have yet to get up the nerve to try and pull it out. Also, I as yet can't determine where that dripping is coming from.

You mentioned that your leak appeared to be from the "joining area 2" below the cap" but I guess I'm not understanding. Ya mean 2" below the top of the pump???

Steve

I think she meant the pump itself was leaking. If you reach up to where the lines go into the pump, on the top of the lines on the pump are levers and you push them up and pull the lines out of the side of the pump. You don't have to unscrew them. Take the four screws out that holds the pump to the wall and drop it out. Simple.

Essex potable water pump

You don't have to remove the white panel to remove the pump. Perry gave me great information and maybe a better info source. It looked difficult but it wasn't.

Perry and havasu girl:

THANKS, ..... pretty encouraged now to switch out the current pump, but I really need to locate WHERE that leak is coming from. I'll keep hunting.

THANKS AGAIN.
