G'morning Newmarians, or Newmarites:
Might I get a quick reminder from you guys who know this stuff?......how do I adjust the slide retraction travel on one of our 4 slides which seems, with increasing frequency, NOT to want to fully close without two or three re-trys.
This is the rear (curb side) slideout in the bdrm. and of late it has begun to start coming in but has recently started to STOP when the slide is still about 6 to 8 inches from fully closing.
I watched techs once (at Nappanee) make adjustment on the control box but can't recall what adjustment they made NOR if that adjustment had anything to do with the travel of the slide.
Currently I seem to be able to physically assist the slide to fully close by leaning against it from outside and lifting a bit while wife holds inside retract toggle, but I'm not sure of what other trick I might try.
Can anyone help?? Thank you. Steve & Lynette

This sounds like the slide is turned OFF by sensing high current. Try to lube the slide using some silicone lube. Also be plugged in to shore power,so your battery voltage is a little higher. Are your batteries in good condition, how is the water level in the batteries? Check the voltage 1 hour after disconnecting from shore power.
Did anyone adjust the slide control box ?
Did the slide ever work ok? Are you about level when bringing the slide in?
Call Newmar service for for some good advise!
This is about all that I can think of.

There are several makes and models of slides.. For example I have a Power Gear rack and pinion slide in the front half of my house.. ANd a pair of Accu-Slide cable cars in the rear.. Clearly, adjustment is quite different depending on the slide system.

Something maybe binding or fell on slides travel path under your draws. I would remove some draws and watch the slide as it travels to see if while it is riding on floor is free for its travel.
If something is slowing up movement control unit is going to sense the higher current and stop as siggyd said.
Adjusting control unit will only increase or decrease the sensing current to stop travel of slide sooner or later.

ALL: THANKS for the tips. I'm going to apply a "dry" silicone lube to the peripheral slide seals to see if that helps. Is this a spray type lube AND can it be sprayed on the rubber seals without worry. ALSO, I'll remove drawers inside to observe the slide's travel path when operated. Thanks again, and I'll report back about results. Steve & Lynette

Hey!! 007: While it made perfect sense when you suggested it, the idea about "removing drawers" to observe the travel path of the slide in question doesn't give you a view of said path since all you see behind and below the drawers are the drawer tracks and cabinet floor mounted atop the slide platform.
ANYWAY...I think the problem is due to the sustained forced needed to be applied by a finger to the toggle switch. In this rig, you've got to HOLD the toggle down while the slide moves in (or out) and BOY is that toggle stiff!! I think that unless it is held VERY, VERY firmly the slide travel will be interupted. Seems to work when I (vs. wife) brings in the slide. Thanks for the suggestions though. Steve & Lynette

Maybe you need a switch for wife so she wouldn't have to hold down. Slide should stop when it senses the raise in current in control unit.

Given you say you can always physically help it to close, the current limiter is set a tad too low. It is odd to load up like that in the middle of travel, but maybe there is a carpet snag or something loading up the movement. I am not a fan of lubing the slide rails as that will attract dirt. Clean them instead.
To adjust the current limiter. Your EX uses multiplexed Intellitec controllers. On the door side (DS) frame rails in the rear most compartment are two control boxes side-by-side. See link below. The forward one is for the front slide and the rear one for the bedroom slide. Get a small screwdriver and adjust the limiter screw toward the "+" ONLY an EIGHT of a turn!!!! Try the slide in and all the way out. If it works, stop. Otherwise repeat another EIGHTH of a turn. DO NOT exceed a total adjustment of say a quarter to half turn. If this is the case, you have other issues. Pay special attention to the full open. You do not want to set the limit so high that the slide overly loads the wall as the slide reaches full out. Same with the full in before the lock arms deploy. Small adjustments of that screw have a dramatic impact.
