I have had less than desirable temperature control up front..I just exposed my front thermistor that is located UNDER the kitchen cabinet, hidden in a hole with a vented cover over it...I moved the thermistor to where it is peeking from under the cabinet and now it seems like the AC is more controlled, instead of eventually freezing me out when the dreaded heat of the day is gone..the unit will actually cycle a bit now....It is quite the opposite when in the sun.....pretty insufficient cooling abilities...
Has anyone experimented with its location?

I have moved the one in my bedroom for better control of air. If you have enough slack on wire you could splice a piece of longer wire and temp tape thermistor to different locations around cabinet surfaces. The wire may be coming from your control unit in front overhead cabinet or direct from AC.
Moving it around different times of day may give you more comfort in a better location. Be careful of small bead, the sensor.

Hi footdoc,
I have moved the thermistor in the rear bedroom. I do have uneven temp control in the front of the coach. For me, the only way for the entire front of the coach to to stay pleasant is to leave the fan on all the time. The compressor will operate as needed. With the fan on all the time, the temp seams to even out between the cockpit and the kitchen.
I've thought about moving the front thermistor. The rear one was quite difficult to find a good location. I decided the front would be too difficult or impossible to do.
If you do decide to move the thermistor, consider purchasing a new one. On the front roof HVAC unit, disconnect the original thermistor wires. Connect the new thermistor wires and run the cable down the HVAC ceiling duct. Use the return air duct only. Now you can enter the front area of the coach from any of the return air inlet openings. On my coach, the return air duct is the one on the passenger side. The inlets have a filter that needs to be cleaned.

Gary...the problem I see with continuous fan is that when the compressor stops, the condensate on the evap coil will be transferred back to the coach air, increasing humidity...we have more than enough in south Alabama to begin with...

When I bought my 2005 DS I noticed the front did not cool properly on a hot day. I checked both of the air conditioners to see if they were cooling correctly. With an IR gun I took temperature reading of the air intakes and outputs nearest the air conditioners. Both were dropping the temperature about 22 degrees which is great.
So I decided the front cooling problem was an air flow problem and not an air conditioner problem. When I was at Newmar for warranty work I asked the technician to install an additional output vent in the front of the motorhome and he said he had done that to many motorhomes.
The extra air in the front made a world of difference. Now on a 95 degree sunny day the temperature stays the same front to back.

It's too bad Newmar doesn't realize that it gets HOT in the south and with a huge windshield, it's tough to get cool up there....I could easily install an additional supply up front...how close to the original forward most supply did he put yours?

The technician installed the additional vent between the front two vents. I now have three vents in the front and they are about 24-30 inches apart. That gives great air flow.

Hi footdoc,
I live in South Florida. Humidity concerns are the same for me as they are for you. My suggestion is what others and I use when camping in humid environments. I understand your concern. All I can tell you is it works for others and me, in humid environments.

Gary...I did a little test this weekend while camping and I have a weather station that I monitor....before trying the continuous fan, my temp/humidity levels were 73/44. After a brief try with continuous fan, the humidity rose to 56% with the same temp....and that was after only about 30 min of cycling the compressor....and I really didn't feel any better and actually felt more damp....after that period of continuous fan, went back to auto fan and the humidity level started falling quickly,,,,so.....I would rather have dry STILL air than wet moving air...
