I'm very glad to have had mine on both my current DP and my previous gasser. Can't say my experience is typical for all but it sure worked out to my benefit.

Welcome to the forum. If you use our search feature you'll come up with a week's worth of reading on the topic and some widely varying opinions.
We bought a 7 year policy from Easy Care when we bought our new 07 Itasca Ellipse. We were newbies and bought it mostly for peace of mind. It has delivered that and a lot more. We've been very happy with the support provided by Easy Care and they've never denied a single claim in nearly 5 years. The shops I've used all say they love working with them too and I've never even had to speak with anyone at Easy Care. The shops all deal directly with them and pay them directly... even my mobile tech.
Good luck.
Rick

The plan we have is called "The Choice". While they have paid our claims and shown some flexibility I urge you to shop around. It always seems to take longer than I think it should for them to respond, but they always have. Fortunately, I've never had a breakdown on the road where I would need immediate attention. I'm not certain how well that would work. It also helps to have a "pit" wife that you can threaten them with. Especially one that is more than anxious to start making calls. ( just kidding, dear )
Seriously though, make sure you know exactly what is, and isn't covered, and what the appropriate procedure is to file a claim. More problems are caused by misunderstanding than anything else. Good luck with your search.

First I will state that I try to by used RVs that are near the bottom of their depreciation curve, so I have had three warranties, two on trailers and one on my first and current DP. I was completely happy with the two warranties on my trailers (they did it all correctly and paid for themselves) and am sort of happy with the DP. I paid about 6K for the current one, and I have used about 3K in one year. My DP is a 2003 Newmar which had 50K miles when I purchased it. I fully expected some issues with a 9 year old unit, that we drive over 10K miles a year on.
Here is what I have learned. Of course read the fine print carefully and fully understand what they DO NOT pay. If you can, ask a certified shop what plans they have the most success with. I have never broken down on the road, so I have not paid as much attention to that aspect of the plan, but I will next time I buy one for a motor home.
The big mistake I made on my current plan (although it has not been a real problem yet) is that I must use the sales dealer, if I am within 100 miles. As it turns out, I dont like the dealer that much now. I am sure I will buy a plan the next time, but I will shop the plan as hard as I shopped the MH!
I do agree with the "peace of mind" comment, but I am also gaining in knowledge and am not as intimidated by all the MH systems as I use to be.
Good luck...

Dave:
Thanks for you insights. I had not thought about the issue of having t go back to the sales dealer. I had that problem with an extended warranty that I bought on my current pick up. Thanks for reminding me to steer clear of that hassle.

My experience was "without" the extended warranty. I have always considered these a racket and to be avoided. When I purchased my 99 DP from a dealer, I spoke to the former owner who had kept the coach in a garage and maintained by his personal mechanics who maintained his 100+ unit truck fleet. The warranty was on the drivetrain only. I thought with 65k miles what could go wrong with a maintained diesel engine. I mean that is why everyone gets a diesel.
After our first trip we took the coach to a garage to find an exhaust leak. Cracked head, cracked exhaust manifold, cracked turbo lots of labor on broken and rusted bolts and a few other things because, hey it's torn apart might as well put new on.....total damage $ 14k. Welcome to the wonderful world of RV's. The DW was so impressed.
Please learn from me and opt for the extended warranty, provided it is a decent one.
