If you want the factory to do everything a dealer does you have the choice of paying for that, it's considered an option because the choice is yours.
PS: Most factories will NOT bother with deliveries, they know how demanding we customers can be. Newmar is one of the very few who are up for the task.

The high line coach's go through a PDI a week prior to your PDI which can last up to a week until Newmar is confident you know the in and outs of your Newmar a Bay Star may not be as intense and not as costly.

My dealer PDI was about 2 hours - on a Bay Star Sport. Sounds like with a factory PDI you will learn much more and test the coach components.

The main problem with a short PDI (ours was 3 hours) is, you don't know, what you don't know, things like fuse blocks (how many and where), bypass valves for the water heater, wires for the brake conrtroler, etc. If this is your first coach, you may have no idea, what you will need to know, or the various tasks that you will have to perform. We were more concerned with making sure everything worked, and general function, and that there was no visible damage, tears and what not. You then add all this to the problem of trying to absorb all the information that they are telling you, and at least I found myself on overload.

That is one of the reasons that this forum is so valuable. You can get the nitty gritty information from other owners.

Update to the original question... RVdirect.com told me the factory "Does not allow" factory delivery. Go figure...
