Hi all,

I haven't posted in a while (actually no real problems recently ), but, I have been "lurking" (lots of good info).

I have a speaker (Factory installed) that sounds like it has a "blown diaphragm". I wanted to check it but I couldn't get the grill off with my hands (tried twisting the outer shell etc.). I don't want to destroy the speaker just to look at it.

So does anybody know the way to disassemble one of these puppies without destroying anything?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

I can't say for sure, but will tell you what I do with mine and what I have learned over the years...

If the grill is round, it should just pop off. Carefully prying with a flat blade screw driver should do it. There are usually a couple of "bosses" around the edge of the speaker housing that hold the grill on so one needs to pull the grill over the bosses to remove. I can do it with my fingers if I can get a grip under the grill.

I haven't had occasion to deal with any of the rectangular grills, but can't believe they are any different.

Romeo,

Thanks, I was a little afraid to try "persuasion"
But, I will try the Flat-Bladed screwdriver!

I have the round speakers so I should be able to use your method.

When I get in there I hope I will be able to ID the speakers if I need to replace it.

Dave
