Fan-Tastic Vent Covers Ultrabreeze

I'm thinking about installing the Ultrabreeze Vent Covers over our two Fan-Tastic vents in our DSDP 4018. My understanding is that these will restrict the opening of the fan somewhat.

Given that the fan opening is motorized, will these covers even work? I don't think I can limit the opening of the fan, so will the motor keep pushing on the original cover and be strained? Or does the motor shut off once it detects an obstacle, like this Vent Cover?

They open almost fully and just touch the cover if installed correctly. The motor will stop if there is any resistance so no damage will occur.

Easy to install using 4 existing vent lid hold down screws, and remove for cleaning with 4 spring pins. Hardest part of the job is getting on the roof and removing the sealant around the 4 existing cover screws.

The vent cover motor controls use load/current to stop in both directions- even without the Ultra breeze cover as designed.

The vent lid will open against the cover which keeps the cover from vibrating and making additional noise. Yes the opening is restricted slightly but no noticeable difference at all in the air flow or noise.

We recommend getting the optional screen insert that just slides in behind the bigger opening exit grid.

Color is your choice of preference. Go for it you wont be disappointed but don't expect the rain sensor to stay dry under a hard rain in the direction of the opening 100% of the time.

That's good news! Yes, I will also install the bug shield. I am planning on disconnecting the rain sensor once the vent cover is installed. It really serves no purpose anymore and eliminates the issues we're having with the fan vent opening and closing on its own in certain weather conditions.

Thanks everybody.

Why do you recommend the screen? We figured there is a screen on the vent so we weren't sure if a second one was necessary.

Also, we didn't notice that the lid touches when we installed ours nor did we notice a change in air flow. It may exist but doesn't seem to impact the performance all that much.

It's a bug screen. The one that comes with the vent has rather big holes and it would be easy for bees, wasps and other critters to get in there.

You will find that there is a gap under the edge of the cover that negates the bug screen, unless you very carefully seal that somehow. I think the existing screen on the vent is good enough.
