Filling fresh tank from water can
I have a 2005 Scottsdale. I know how to fill fresh from a hose, but if we need to fill from a water carrier spout, how do I do it?
How do I put chemicals (bleach) in the fresh water tank?

An easy way to introduce bleach into your fresh water tank is to hook the hose up to the fill side on the RV, then holding the other end of the hose up a few feet, carefully pour bleach into the hose. Keep the end of the hose raised so the bleach doesn't pour out, then attach to the spigot. When you turn on the spigot, the water flow will push the bleach into the tank and mix it with fresh water.

I use one of these with the deluxe filler hose:

I can add anything I want to the jug, add water to mix, pour it in the filler for the fresh h2o tank. I just don't want to do it to fill the whole 60 gallon tank.
Full disclosure: I have a travel trailer. Just thought I'd post to stir up some ingenious thought. Some of you folks are **so** much smarter than I am! (And those that aren't, I can only hope you're really nice folks!) ;-)

Hi Kiwi,
In addition to what pasdad1 posted, please removed the whole coach water filter (if there is one) before pouring any chemicals into the shore water hose.
There is no easy way to fill the fresh water tank other than the supply hose. I have never done it.

In some dry camping areas, there is no threads on the shared spigot. You can fill a jug, but have to pour it into the gravity fill spout. Cannot find a gravity fill spout.

This will solve the issue of "no threads".

Water
Couldn't you just use the winterizing plumbing and suck the water out of the bucket?

Will it go into the tank, or just fill all the lines.. ?? I don't ever winterize (Gulf Coast) so I have never used that line.

Discharge from the winterizing connection goes to the fresh water pump inlet. The output from the fresh water pump can be directed to either the plumbing lines or the fresh water tank. Just set the valves properly at the winterizing connection and fresh water outlet.
Don't let the fresh water pump run more than 15 minutes before cooling down.
Good Luck!

Using the winterizing line will not fill the fresh water tank. The winterizing line puts water into the plumbing lines.

Take a look. The winterizing line is connected to the inlet of the fresh water pump by correctly positioning two valves. There are even instructions on my rig about how to position them. If you don't position the valves correctly, the pump won't draw anything from that line.
The fresh water pump discharge is connected in parallel with the city water inlet, and that is connected to a valve that either discharges into the fresh water tank or the plumbing lines. The use of that valve is how you fill the fresh water tank from city water or the winterizing line. There are instructions at that valve describing how to position it for the condition you want.
Just operating that valve will determine where the discharge from the fresh water pump goes, the tank or plumbing lines.
I have always used the winterizing line and fresh water pump to put bleach into the fresh water tank by just adjusting the proper valves as I have described. I promise you it works just as I have described.
Good Luck!
Wil

I agree that you can fill your tank from the water pump winterizing siphon hose. If I leave the "normal/fill" selector valve in the "fill" position with the water pump turned on, the pump will run continuously as it recirculates water from the tank and back into the tank. The running of this pump is a good reminder if I forget to switch from "fill" to "normal".

We carry a small electric water pump which we can attach to the threaded water inlet with the other end into a bucket or other container. On a recent trip we filled the fresh tank from a 40 gallon tank using the pump.
