Filter Minder !!

Was wondering if these go bad and need to be replaced ? Had a new filter put in last year and within a few 100 miles the reading was at the top tier in the yellow ! Just basic highway driving, no dusty roads ! Had the same result with my last pusher ! Now I just change on a time opposed to mileage ! Am I missing something here ! Was wondering if my mileage would be better with more frequent changes! Thanks

Just a question I have to ask, was the button on the bottom of the minder pushed and the minder reset when the filter was changed? If not sure, go ahead and push it now, and after a trip, check it again.......

You're not missing anything. My Filter Minder has been way off from day one. I had Freightliner check both the airfilter and also replace the filter minder. New one is just as unreliable as the old one was. I will change the filter every two years - just to be safe. I don;t even look at that damn filter minder anymore.

The Filter Minders are useless. Take a Sharpie and write the Date and Mileage on the end of the filter and change according to your preference.

Yes button was pushed. Have done that several times with the same result! When I bought the coach, all filter and fluids were to be replaced ! The air filter does have a sticker on it with a date of 1 week before i purchased. But dealing with a used unit, you never know what the dealer will try to pull !

My filter minder, while a good idea, is far from accurate. I change the air filter on a semi regular basis. Depends on where I've been.

Hi Tony, just a question, do you find the minder on a Coach with all the intake piping/restriction's to lead to more of a in-accurate reading than those right on the air filter canister on a big truck?

Thanks for posting this topic. Thought i was the only one having this issue. Was '3/4' used essentially the day of delivery. Thankfully it hasn't budged, and I will proceed based on mileage/time on my spartan chassis. Too bad as my old rig seemed to be accurate.

We change our air filter every two years. I don't have any confidence in the Filter Minder.
Happy travels!

I had the same question as mine was like this on day one as a matter of fact when I did my inspection at the dealership the tech told me the same thing. They are not accurate. I even went and pulled my filter out and checked. Now Im just going to change it every 2 years.
