First post(of many) Laundry List for our 2004 MADP4018

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while, finally got registered and read tons and tons of posts. Lots of great info.

We have a 2004 MADP4018.
All was working fine about one year ago, then it was put into storage
and potentially for sale, but as the markets slid we decided not to sell.

While in storage the RV place that was holding it would start it and run
it on occassion because they were also holding it for sale.

Anyway I wanted to list a few issues which I have not been able to resolve since picking it up.

1.We had an issue with the dash lights not shutting off, I called newmar,
but it was such a vague issue they were unable to help me.
So this is what I have the "power mirror" fuse was blown but the power
mirrors work fine
The InDash Stereo with flip out backup camera monitor is dead (so no
backup camera)

Everything else seems to work fine on the coach side. I am going to
investigate the wiring near the steering column I've read they can have
issues with rubbing.
on a side note there is so much room under the dash, I can't see why it
requires such a tangled mess of wires, could have been much neater for
future service.

2.We have the HWH auto-leveling jacks, and the control board was
replaced while it was in storage, now when I go to level the unit it will only
lift one side, I believe it needs to be re-calibrated, until then I have to
manually level it(not a hassle)

3. I think this might just be due to shore power but we can only run the
rear a/c heat pump. if we try to run the front one, it pops the progressive industries box under neath, it resets itself and tries again until we shut off front unit. (even if its the only thing running the front one still pops it) if I run the Generator, the front unit will operate fine. We are hooked up to 50A, but I have a feeling it might not be a true 50A service.

We are currently wintering in NC... so far so good heat pumps work nicely to keep the gas bill down.(just wish we could run one so we could get more heat up front.

4. Not cruicial but I am looking for a source to find 12v Florescent lamps at $6-8 a piece I have about 18 of these that all seem to be dying at the same time. Also looking for Sewer Vent caps for the roof(they are dry and brittle)

Welcome fordcouga to the Newmar forum and irv2.
These lamps can be found at Home Depot


They will brighten up your living area and are reasonable.
If your wiring in steering column goes over a metal bend at the top of it the wiring harness maybe chafing over this bend when you adjust your steering wheel height.
My bend had a burr on it that worked thru wiring blowing a 40 amp fuse and causing the insulation to burn and had a puff of white smoke up out of steering column.
After it was repaired I place a spaghetti wire around harness no problems since.
Check the grounds off HWH solenoids to ground at your jack pump location.
Repairman may have been working around them and didn't check when he supposedly tested his work.

re the front heat pump..sometimes the fans get sticky and will not start and draw enough current to pop a breaker..your gen may have more and cleaner power so it will start the fan..so with the ac/heat pump breaker off and tagged go up on roof and remove 4 screws that hold the ac cover..you will see a fan.. move it to see if it twirls smoothly and easily..if not usually spinning it a few times or possibly a very small, as in drop or 2, of 3 in 1 oil on the shaft by the motor bearing will lube it...or just re cover it and run on gen for a while and see if it loosens up..if not may need to open motor to lube bearing..hope that helps on one item

re bulbs..mine in cold do not light up quick or very bright..so if all going at once try them when coach is real warm..
