Flat Tires & Blow Outs

I have stated researching options to help with flat tire / blow outs and was wondering about others experiences. Considering the Tyron Flat Tire Protection although itís a bit pricy. Would be interested in others experiences with this.

You are going to get some pretty mixed responses on Tyron bands.

Personally, I would have gotten them, but my dealer doesn't install them and I could not find anyway to get them installed locally.

However, there is now a new option and if you are considering Tyron, you should look at these. They are Rettro Bands. There is a video on youtube (and I'm sure someone will post in here) showing them. They are being sold exclusively through National Indoor RV right now, but they claim they are easy to install and you can have them shipped and a local tire company install.

The big difference is that Rettro bands claims you can treat them as run flats and drive some distance (not sure if it's specified) on them after a blowout to make it to a safe stopping point, such as exiting an interstate rather than just stopping on the shoulder.

I went with the Rettrobands sold
by NIRVC . Check out the utube video on them, impressive.

Did you have it installed by them or have someone else install them?

I had NIRVC Lewisville install them.
They have an exclusive right now,
not even sure you could buy and have someone else install. Install was fairly quick, hour, hour and a half. Done right in the lot by a local tire company, the guy you see in the video.

Yes, NIRVC has said they will ship and easily installed by any tire shop capable of changing RV tires.

Having had a front tire blow out in our Essex at 65MPH and doing a lot of information gathering we will be getting the RettroBand for our 18 London Aire. When we had the tire blow out the coach moved over one lane almost immediately which would still happen with Tyron system. Yes the RettroBand are more money but are a lot safer should you have a tire blow out.

Agree, not really that much for a product that may save you or a family member.

When we had our right front tire blow out on our Essex at 65 MPH the tire stayed on the rim which is what the Tyron tire band is to do. In our tire blow out the Tyron system wouldn't have done anything toward making our experience safer. The worst part of the tire blow out was the forced change of lane when tire blew which the RettroBAnd would have not have happened if we had them on. RettroBand's have only been available for less then a year.
