I'm replacing the carpet and would like to use laminate. Has anyone done this in the actual slideout and if so, how did you "finish" the inside edges? My current carpet is bound on the edges and they overlap slightly when the room is extended. Thanks,

You may want to consider leaving the carpet on the slide floor if not and you have a table you will need to have some way of holding table and chairs so they do not slide all over the place. I have tile in kitchen area that I will extend to door entrance stairs and remove carpet in that area.
If you have table and chairs this picture is what I did for wife because she had difficulty getting under main kitchen cabinets. Can see whole job in Quick Tips & Mod thread link below.

I like the table/cabinet mod. We still have kids that will travel with us so I'm not sure I'm ready to go down to 2 chairs yet but definitely considering it for a future mod. Is replacing the carpet on the slide reasonably easy? I understand not wanting laminate under the table/chairs, but the existing carpet is faded so I would need to replace it. Does anyone have any ideas for making the table/chairs less slippery?

I have two folding chairs also to match fix chairs. They have Velcro straps to place around the table legs and table is fastened to the wall in your setup. The table is always extended I just turn it around when slide will be retracted. Table can be pulled out to seat 6 people.
