It only had to happen once. 20 miles back by toad. Now have velcro holders!

Been there, left that. Velcro is a good idea. Sure wish they would provide a cap hanger like you see on some vehicles.

Yep, would be nice to have a hanger standard. Might try to make a plastic hanger with strap.
Wondered what the diesel smell was going down a 9000 foot grade? Sure was relieved that it was "just" a missing cap.

I saw a great mod a few years ago where a guy had taken his cap apart and lined the inside of the raised handle area with small magnets. The cap then stuck to the metal fuel door nicely. The velcro seems like a much easier way of doing it...

The previous owner of my rig left an extra cap in one of the storage bins. It must be the reason I've yet to leave mine behind.
With the rising price of fuel you might want to consider making that a locking gas cap.

I'm very happy that both our toad and the motorhome came with a tether on the gas cap. Otherwise, I might be driving back, too.

I have driven away without my fuel cap twice, slow learner. I now put the cap on the steps inside the MH so I trip on it when getting back inside.

I have a locking fuel cap, the kind that retains the key when the cap is removed. This key is on a keyring that also includes the ignition key. If I forget to put it back on, I will be reminded of it because the cap will be dangling from my ignition.
