Freightliner in a Spartan Service center

I finally got around to getting my Centramatics installed today. I was referred to Dave Schmidt Truck Service, an authorized Spartan center. No rocks, wrenches, comments, or long ridiculous threads were thrown at me. They got me in on time for my appointment and finished the job with no problems.

I'm betting that the badge now says "Spartan K2."

Actually, some Spartan service centers are also Freightliner service centers. We have one in our area of Northwest Washington.

Many components are the same, so taking a FL to a Spartan Service Center or the other way around isn't a bad idea. Once warranty is over we have found a number of independent truck centers can do the work at a reduced amount from RV service locations. Just like boats, as soon as you say motor home the price goes up at least 25%.

Not so fast

I went to a Freightliner service center with a engine light on, I have a Spartan chassis, thinking the same thing a Cummins is a Cummins right? wrong, the service writer would not even do fault check for me he said the “codes are different” what ever
Cummins near by help me out they didn’t care who’s chassis it was. That’s is good thing

A little back ground on Cummins engine codes. On our Essex, on a Spartan, we learned that the engine codes that we pulled up on the Essex were Spartan codes not Cummins. We did get a chart that crossed over the Spartan codes to Cummins. The same thing with FL, the codes you pull up on a FL are their codes which are different then Cummins. If you go to a Cummins shop their computers will pull up their codes which will be different then either Spartan or FL. That would be the reason a FL shop would have trouble reading codes from a Spartan,
