OK it took quite a bit of thinking and calculating but the guy is 100% correct, the Freightliner or even Spartan will get up to 12 mpg but that is just the bare chassis with no body, a lot less drag!

I gotta have one of those, but I’m thinking I’d rather not go shorter than 24 foot. A shorter trailer would be harder to back up.

Everything’s bigger and better in Texas!
Fuels a lot cheaper in Texas too. How do I know? I’m sitting here in Florida.

Sorry you cant drive that on the highway. No seat belt!! A seat would be a good thing as well.

No way a DP gets 12 mpg. I average between 7-7 1/2 mpg. Coming down a sustained grade maybe more.

7 to 7.5 is good
I recently attended camp freightliner and learned about the "economy" mode on the allison tranny? (Being a newbie I never touched that thing till after the FL class lol) Low and behold we do seem to be getting better mileage in the ECO mode...(went from 6.5 to 7.5 on average maybe?) The instructor said we should be able to get 8 on average - but that might be going down hills or on level roads all the time! Plus - we just got out of boating where we got 1 mile to the gallon - on a good day - so to me...7 to 7.5 ain't that bad!
Good luck, happy glamping!

No problem Don, very interesting information, some things I knew but quite a few of the variables were new to me.
