Fresh Water Fill 2014 DS

I am at a campground hooked up to city water at 50psi. I turned the fresh water fill valve counter clockwise to fill the fresh water tank. After 15 minutes the gauge still indicated 1/3rd. Am I doing something wrong or does the tank take a long time to fill going from city to fresh fill? Thanks

Should not be. Brand new before this trip. Getting good flow with city water. I will check it when I get back home. Hitting the road early am tomorrow.

It does take a while but 1/3 could also mean 50% of the tank which is why I got the See level gushes installed.

Thanks. My old coach measured in quarters so I had a better idea of what was available. The See Level gauges sounds like a good idea.

SeeLevel is great but in the meantime...

Your fresh water tank is the bottom tank. You should be able to see it in the wet bay. Look below the backer panel and the fresh tank should be the clear translucent plastic tank about 8" back. As it fills you should be able to see the level rise in the tank.

I have a 75 gallon tank in my Canyon Star and it takes a while to fill. I can actually see my tank fill from the passenger side and on the driver side I can watch it at the top to the overfill. Its probably different in your rig but I would try to see if I could see the fresh water tank fill rather than trust the gauges.

To check and confirm flow you can listen for the water flow in the water compartment. You can also touch and feel the water flow through the hose and water filter.

If you have the black plastic lever, it frequently will round off on the inside and while you think you are opening the valve, the lever is just turning on the valve shaft. Remove the Phillips screw and take off the handle and turn the valve with a wrench. At your convince, go to Home Depot or a hardware store and get a metal replacement handle like below ( Newmar does not sell the replacement plastic handle anymore nor do they have a metal handle, they will sell you a new valve with a metal handle.)

I've never timed it but my Ventana tank takes WAY more than 15 minutes to fill from empty.

Also check the filter. I've had filters clog almost immediately from some sources of water. I always carry a few extras with me.

I have a 16 VT and mine takes a long time to fill.

The other thing is I fill until it hits overflow. The gauge reads full but after no (or very little) water usage it drops to 2/3.
