Front Thermostat Sensor Mods

I don't find any recent discussions on sensors mounted to an outside wall. Ya'll know what I mean that the sensor picks up wall temps.

Anyone know of mods or other methods to help the sensor be more "accurate"?

Not a mod, but I put a regular thermometer on the interior wall by our bathroom, opposite the kitchen so right in the center of the coach. I use that as a check against how we “feel” to raise or lower temps. We’ve actually found our Newmar to be so much better insulated than our previous coach that the wall sensors are pretty accurate.

ID:	210952I and others have mounted the sensor on a piece of dowel to space it out from the wall. It helps == here's a couple pics-- sorry for teh poor quality, but you get the idea.

There are some for older Bay Stars where they moved sensor to interior wall in QT's # 3 Bay Star section and maybe also in PROBLEM SOLVERS of same link.
A Newmar search may get you some also.

All newer coaches have all the sensors no where near an outside wall. So someone finally listened,

Yes, they are on interior walls now, HOWEVER, in my case it's mid coach outside the half bath which brings its own problems:

1) The cooler bedroom affects the sensor for the front so I have to keep the dividing door half way out to prevent bedroom temps from affecting the front zone

2) If you run the furnace in the half bath it will heat that wall which will drastically affect the front zone heating. One morning it was freezing cold up front and I thought I had a failure somewhere until I realized what was going on.

I have a command strip mounted thermostat on the mid wall and also a temp stik to report temps to me wirelessly via their web portal so I can get alerts with the pup inside.

Don, you probably have to go back 2 or 3 years for all the discussions on this. I got Newmar to move one of my sensors under warranty and I have moved 2 others myself since then. Still not perfect but much better. Just get them as far from the wall and windows as possible.
