Just returned home to FL from a 2 week run to Maine & back & found a large cut (to the cords) on the inside of the left front tire. I'm hoping I can find a matching XZA 2 275/70 x 22.5 as the right front tire is fine.

If not, any size recommendations for my coach? In reading the posts (there are several thousand on tires alone) I see the following stand out;
XZA-3 275/80 and XRV 305/70 (is this the correct prefix?).

Our coach does have a bit of a rough ride (somewhat better now with the Koni shocks installed before the trip).

How old (date code) is the tire without damage? Is it time to replace both of them?

We had 275/70's on our front (had to run 120 psi and that was actually too low). I went to XRV 305/70 to be able to use the full axle rating if I ever need it. Right now I'm running 100 psi as I'm below the full axle rating. And yes, I do know how to weigh and read the chart!
I did have to get new wheels since the 305's take a wider one. I got four Alcoa's and two steel from a truck wrecking yard.

My 2005 DS came with 275/70 tires and had a rough ride. Newmar/Spartan did a lot of work on the front - different air bags, different shocks and different suspension stops. That helped the ride, but I still was not happy. Finally they gave me 275/80 XZA3 tires and that make a world of difference since I could run them at lower air pressure. I upgraded the rear tires with 275/80 XZA3s on my own dime.

You can upgrade to either 275/80 or 305/70, but 295/80 tires will not fit.

I elected to put the 305/70's on all around (didn't have to buy new wheels). The other part to this equation is that you can take advantage of the full weight capacity of the mountain master chassis. The steering axel of the MM chassis is rated at 14,600 lbs. When Newmar elected to go with the 275/70, the chassis had to be derated to 13,200lbs. Of note, since 2006, Newmar has put the 305/70 on all Dutch Star's.

On the 2002 DSDP they used too narrow a rim to take the 305/70's which is why I replaced the rims. And since I was doing that I got Alcoa's to replace the steel ones that ours came with.
On our 2002 MM chassis the front axle was only a 12,000# unit and was overloaded from the factory. Then Newmar had Spartan replace it with a 14,600# axle and as was said, to run the full capacity you need the 305/70 tires.

If you go with the Michelin XZA-3 275/80 tires go with Load Range H for the front (or all around). LR G will work fine on the rear but you will want the H's on the front.

As of September of 2010 Michelin was the only one but Continental listed them in their catalog. But they were not yet in production then and no ETA was available.
I bought two Michelins and they were only about 3 weeks old.
