frozen water filter

well we had just picked out new baystar 3414 in November and we made sure the dealership in des moines would winterize it after they checked the system. well I went outside yesterday ,we live in st joseph mo. about 3 hours from the dealership and I checked the wet bay and my bottom the water filter had cracked and broke off the upper housing and the antifreeze was frozen solid. now I'm concerned about all my pipes. its colder up in iowa than it is here , I was debating to take up there now or wait till early spring to do so. what do you think.

Pictures, pictures, pictures. I always take a lot of pics if there's an issue with the coach or anything else for that matter. Makes dealing with manufacturers or repair issues much easier.

If there was water in the filter, because they did not drain it, than the added anti has now mixed with water left in there, diluting the full strength anti that should be in your plumbing system.
The anti will become slush when freezing and solid slush if temps drop lower.
They should re- winterize the coach.

If we give the tech the benefit of the doubt, maybe he just forgot to address that particular item and did the rest of the job correctly. Hmmn I did the same thing on a water filter I added then forgot to drain in the winter. Would explain how there was not enough antifreeze to keep it from cracking.

I would though, try and dig my heels in to get the dealer to send a tech to the house to make sure nothing else is in jeopardy due to the mistake before firing everything up and using the systems. Really can not do it correctly until it warms up anyway. X2 re calling the dealer now.

Good Luck

You should be able to pump more pink stuff through the system . Do it when its cold. If it flows from all the proper taps , you should be OK. If the lines are frozen and it doesn't flow , then I'd be worried. I would check the hot water tank to see if it was drained and the traps. If not enough antifreeze was in the traps , they could split.
