Frustrated with opening screen door?

Frustrated with opening the screen door on our LA and seeing how Newmar remedied the issue with the KA when we visited the factory, I decided this was the time for the fix. When opening the screen door from inside the coach, you need to slide the glass open to unlatch the handle to open the screen door. Went to ACE Hardware and purchased a set of window crank handles and 2 large chrome washers. Needed to get 1 inch of 1 inch copper tubing to attach the two handles together between the glass slide. Turned out better than I thought and here are two photos from each side. Maybe all 19 and 20 Newmar coaches have something like this, but this was a project just waiting to be completed.

This is something that has driven me crazy since I purchased my. I have seen other mods and searched PTL website but haven’t found solution I liked. This may be the one as it is not intrusive and easily accomplished. I can’t believe PTL doesn’t have a retrofit solution.

Thanks for sharing yours

My buddies Thor gas coach (2017) screen door can be opened from either side without sliding the plexiglass back and forth. Amazing.

Our LA in 18 didn't have the latch to open screen door without sliding glass back but the King Aire did. When I went over to check it out when at Newmar Service Center the KA was right next to us and that is when I saw that I came up with a similar latch. It maybe that all Newmar's in 19 and beyond have a similar system but was surprised when LA din't have a latch to open the screen handle.

Remove the latch and use brown/black magnet tape around the edges.
