Occasionally when going down the road we get strong exhaust fumes inside the coach.. we have to open the bathroom window as it is pretty strong.. Has anyone had this problem ?? Thanks, Keith

Feel your exhaust system for any holes. I think it would have to be a big one to enter the MH while moving.

Sounds like an exhaust leak.....so check for any holes or leaks. If it's before the mufflers, you would probably hear it too. If you don't get the chance to run your RV very much, the condensation from the exhaust could be sitting in the exhaust pipe and eventually rot it out. It is usually good to drive (not just warm up the engine) to get the exhaust system heated up enough to get rid of the condensation.

It could also be that you have a few "leaks" in your cabin construction (usually under cabinets or in closets) that will allow under chassis fumes to enter the cabin. If you run with your vents open, you will be causing a bit of a vacuum in the cabin when you are driving.....which is why opening the bathroom window causes the vacuum to be reduced...and helps.
Check for openings under cabinets and get some of that expanding foam spray to fill the openings.....or drive with the window open.

Not being familiar with the Newmars, is the exhaust pipe out the rear, or out the side.....you might be causing some sort of eddy currents with the fumes if you are towing a toad? Just a thought?

Good luck, Happy Camping

I have a 2004, DSDP, 3807 with the 370 HP, Cummins. I have put 50,000 miles on it and never had an exhaust smell inside.
The only place I could think of exhaust coming in would be if the rear access panel, in the bedroom, was not sealed properly.
I took my panel off to lube the exhaust brake, since I couldn't reach far enough back into the engine bay, from the outside engine hatch.
When I put the panel back on, I wondered if I might start smelling exhaust fumes, if I didn't get it sealed properly. That was a few years ago and haven't had a problem.
