Friend of mine has a 2000 Dutch Star and the entry steps have decided to quit working. Does anyone know where the fuse may be located that controls them?

Hi Steve N Sal,
Assuming the steps are the same as Newmar used for many years and that the Dutch Star is a DP, the fuse should be in the basement bay located in front of the left front wheel. For me, get a magnifying glass, you'll need it to read the fuse labels. The labels are located on the fuse buss and on a sticker on the side of the compartment.
The bottom line is the steps should be controlled by the chassis batteries. This is why the fuse is located with the other chassis fuses.

The 2000 DSDP doesnt have a compartment in front of the left front wheel. It does have a fuse box in the dash, in front of the steering wheel that is a likely place to look. There are also fuses under the hood, over the generator, and in the compartment on the rear, passenger side in front of the battery compartment.
The in-dash fuse compartment is the most likely spot.

Hi Romeo,
Yep, you are correct, my bad. Now I've learned to enlarge the brochure PDF file to 150% so I can see the detail well enough to post correctly.

Steve,
Something else to look at-
Make sure the magnetic switch is working properly.
My friend, with a 40' Dutch Star DP, just spent $1500 having a new motor installed, and the steps worked for two days. He was traveling from Seattle to Fairhope AL and they quit again. He had it back to the factory years ago when it was new, twice I think, for this same problem.
It turned out to be that little magnetic switch on the door jam. It finally fixed the headache of this very intermittent problem for him. They drilled new holes and installed a new switch- They apparently could't get the exact same switch.
