Looking for gas caps. Actually wanting to get locking ones to keep an honest man honest with that near $600 worth of diesel.
Spartan says the cap is manufacturer addition.
Newmar could only provide me with "non vented" and what is probably a Newmar part number of 7031632.
Anyone know a Stant part number or equivalent vehicle? It looks pretty standard but I want to make sure. I also see Stant makes keyed-alike pairs which would be handy...

Jeff, I'm reasonably certain one of the Amigos has done this... Seems to me it's either cwg or lane....

Hi Jeff,
My signature coach has Stant 21591. Assuming the fuel filler openings are industry standard they might work. There are two keyed alike locking caps.

Jeff,
I took one of my non-locking, non-vented caps to NAPA for a "matchup". I do have different keys for each one however.

Locking gas caps are a toss up when it comes to losses. As reported elsewhere, thieves have simply been punching hole in bottom of tank or using other means to gain fuel (like ripping cap off with a bar) and thus resulting in more cost to repair while still losing the fuel.

How about a 12 volt lead to some metal plates mounted on the cap. Would suck for you if you forget to switch it off but would sure shock and scare the crap out of a would be thief. That would sting. Would also give me enough time to grab the Beretta and a bat to meet them outside for a little chat.

I think we are dealing (potentially) with two different types of thieves: 1. a casual looker, who will steal what is easiest(i.e. no locks); 2. an upset thief, who will damage what he/she cannot get. We have to ask ourselves, do we want to take a chance on upsetting type 2, as we can imagine, a lot more damage can be done than a few hundred dollars. This is all assuming the act is committed in one's absence.

Ecker, sorico, completely agreed. My OP indicated "keep an honest man honest" and while I agree that if someone wants it they will get it by any means - much damage included, my thought on lockers is to keep the casual passerby siphon-er type of thief at bay. I also suspect lockers will make it much harder to be stealthy and siphon that precious go-go juice while I am sleeping inside.

Bob, you are correct. I was able to obtain a pair of keyed alike fuel caps from NAPA which have to be nonvented. I am sorry I do not still have the part number, but the clerk was able to match the old cap I took in with a picture catalogue, thus ordering the part.

That is exactly the part, or should I say pair. Newmar/K2 w/ screw in caps, non vented. Only $16 for the KEYED ALIKE pair.
Thanks!
