If my fuel tank is anywhere near full, gas leaks out both filler compartments. I'm at Newmar now, wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what the fix was.

I have not had that problem, and I have filled the tank to the max.
I wonder if that would happen if the tank was filled to the max in very cold weather, and then the temperature went up considerably?

I think it is more from sloshing around vs. pressure.

Had same problem Newmar changed the caps to unvented problem solved.
When you remove cap do slowly to let the pressure [vaccum] release.
No move diesel running down the side of MH

Just checked mine. They are unvented.

The expansion of the fuel from cold to warm should not affect or cause spill as the top of the tank has a trapped air space to take care of it. Scott, it might be a great time to replace your caps with locking type available at any automotive supply house. They are non vented on your coach.

Ours are unvented factory provided caps but they also leak(not a lot but just enough to be an irritant).

I have also noticed a tiny bit of diesel leaking past the caps and a small runner making it part-way down the outside of the coach. This happens even if I've been very, very careful to wipe up every little bit of diesel in sight after a fill-up. It's irritating. I would love to know how to stop it.

Happens on the passenger side of our unit. Usually after a couple of sharp left turns or when on curvey mountain roads.

javajelly I have the same problem on a 04 dutch star. After tighten with the finger control if you will hold the outer edge of the cap and hold it tightly you should be able to turn it about 1/4 turn. For me it stops the leaking.

Good idea. I'm going to give it a try, also. Thanks.

Had to work on the gas caps. Had them put non-vented on. However, still leaked. So I tried pushing and turning at the same time and got another 1/4 turn as someone else had written. By pushing, the resistance seems to be greater on the overtightening mechanism.
Hopefully this is the answer.
