Anyone know where I can find the GCWR of my 2004 Kountry Star without being at the motorhome? I am looking for a specs. type website.

K Man: If your KSCA is on a Workhorse W-22 chassis, then your GCVWR is 26,000 pounds.

If yours is on the W-24 Workhorse chassis, then your GCVWR is 30,000 pounds.

If you have a Ford chassis, I think you need to find a Ford RV website for specs. ED

Thanks edgray. Ours is a W-22 chassis. That means my toad should not be over 4000 pounds curb weight then?

YES, that is basically true. However, some folks may argue that IF your coach's actual weight is less than 22,000 then you can tow more than the additional 4,000 pounds, just cannot total more than 26,000 for both. IF you tow anything, be sure to look under the back of MH to verify that the Newmar-installed hitch is properly attached to the extension they added on to the ends of the chassis frame rails. "Sometimes" these bolted on units can become loose, or bolts become missing over time.

No matter what you decide to tow, be sure to add supplemental braking to the toad. "Most" states now require it, and if you don't have any toad brakes, the plantiff's lawyer will just love that. ED

Yes - I have a Brake Buddy. Our '04 Grand Cherokee was written off by an uninsured driver in Arizona and I am looking for a replacement. The new Grand Cherokees are 4640 curb weight and I am worried this may be too high for our KSCA.

You have a legitimate concern. Even if you can keep the coach weight down to 21,300 or less, so as not to exceed the 26K GCVWR, you will need to verify that the hitch Newmar used is rated for at least 5,000 lbs. My 03 KSCA came with a "Hidden Hitch" brand, and I'm thinking it MAY be rated for only 4,000...but I'm not sure, and can't go take a look 'cause the MH is in it's storage shed.

You obviously know what you're doing, and are asking the right questions. Good luck in your search for an appropriate toad. Sorry about how you lost the other one, BUMMER! ED

K Man just picked up our third Cherokee. They weigh just over 3100 lbs. and were made until 2001. Found this '98 in excellent condition(87k miles), even had the tow brackets. We have pulled our Suburban but much prefer the lighter car.
