Generator Fuel Pickup

I usually don't run the genset that much while travelling, but the last few trips I have due to the heat. The last few times, when I get to about 1/2 tank the genset dies. Fill up the tank and all is good again. Yesterday we were returning from the keys and had been running about 8-9 hours and just as we approached home the genset dies = Light bar and fuel gauge indicate we used about 70 of the 150 gallons. I'm sure that when I go to fuel up in the next few days, the genset will be fine once again.
So, my thought is the fuel pickup is too high in the tank. Is it possible to lower the pickup so I have more usable fuel for the genset ?

The pick-up point is normally about 1/4 full. But if you are traveling the motion could affect the fuel height and you may have sucked air in that would kill the generator. The only way to really check the pick-up height is to run the generator when you are stationary and level. I doubt your pick-up point on the tank is different to the thousands of others out there.

My 2013 dsdp and 2019 dsdp will run when fuel tank is down to less than 25 gallons remaining. Never ran it past that point, but well past the low fuel light.

The way to check the pickup tube would be to pull it out If possible.

If its short, you may be able to add a few inches of plastic fuel line over the old tube.
