Went to do some cleaning today, wanted to vacuum so started the generator (7.5 Onan diesel). It ran for a couple minutes and then died. Wouldn't start again so I waited a minute or so and then it started again. It seemed to be warming up and running better, but after a few minutes the revs started fluctuating and it died again. Got it started again, but same problem. The day the MH was delivered (a week ago) it seemed to run fine. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mike

How much fuel do you have in your tank? The generator fuel pick-up is higher in the tank than the engine fuel pick-up to prevent you from using all the fuel when running the ginny. Could also be the fuel filter on the generator. How many hours on the ginny and when was the filter last changed?

I have between 3/4 and Full. According to the dealer, the generator oil, oil filter and fuel filter were changed before delivery. I thought maybe some dirt somewhere in the system.

It sounds like you may have a problem in the fuel system or fuel governor. Start with the easy things first. It could of lost its prime, try holding the START/STOP switch in the STOP position for at least a minute and then try starting it. This should re-prime your fuel system.

how cold is it there, you may just have summer fuel in your lines and filter,if it is cool there is an anti gel fluid that you can add to your fuel tank

Do you have a summer winter adjustment to make on carburetor or air filter?

Thanks for all the ideas. It was cold the day I ran it, just below freezing. I will try it again today and try priming it first. I will also try a new air filter.

OK, update on the generator. Turned out to be a bad fuel gauge/sensor. The guage was showing 3/4, but the fuel was low. Working fine now. You don't even want to hear how I found out about the bad guage.
Thanks,
Mike

Hmmm. Got a feeling it involved a call to emergency road service requesting a fuel delivery?

Hey, I like that idea! It would make for some informative and entertaining reading.
I would start it, but have nothing to post...
