I have a 1996 Mountainaire DP. I traced a bumping noise to the generator slide-out
located in the front end. When driving along over a road that is unsmooth, the noise is accented. There is a Cummins maintenance facility located 39 miles distant but I would rather find someone to fix it who is closer. Would anyone recommend another option. Camping World is about 15 miles away. Could heavy truck facility (like Goodyear) do this kind of work. Any advice appreciated.

Not familiar with the construction of your unit but on our 05 DSDP we found that the alignment "pins" that stab into holes with nylon bushings in them had jolted out. This allowed the generator cage to bounce up and down and did cause an unsettling bounce or rumble. To view the pins, open the generator access hood and look on the lower left and right corners, in front of the tires and you'll see the pins, they should be stabbed into the receiver bushings, if not that's likely your problem. You can make adjustments to them yourself or a dealer can quickly repair - does your coach have a particularly rough ride? That can cause problems in that area.

I also had a rattle in the front right side when driving on rough roads. It turned out to be loose mounting bolts for the retractable steps. Things are quiet again.

Thanks I'll check it out. Also have made an appointment to have the pins holding the generator slideout checked soon. Will post what they found when I find out.
