While it could be a mechanical issue, look for paw prints in the dust. Yeah, we did not believe it either till it happened to us. A feral cat turned ours on twice, and another time a raccoon did it while we were sitting in the living room. Hubby put a cover over the switch, made from a little piece of hose. Of course, he cleaned the connections, too.

There is a similar discussion on RV.net right now.

Wow! This has happened way more than I thought.

We have the same generator as you, ricere. Ours started spontaneously a month or two ago. Strange. Never happened before. I checked the harness for moisture, found none, shook my head and went about my business. Hasn't happened again.

I laughed at this thread until it just happened to us last night. Came home from a bluegrass concert and parked it yesterday and this morning heard it running where it was parked on the drive with no one in it. There has been moisture in the air and maybe that was the cause but the coach does not have auto start

Had this happen to mine about three years ago, took it in for a checkout and they found the Inverter Control bad, replaced the control and it has not happened again. I was connected to shore power at the time and I also do not have auto start, thought the grimlins had taken over....

I understand. I would have a hard time believing it myself if I had not seen it first hand. I disconnected the connection to the remote start switch on the dash, greased it with dilectric grease and it hasn't happened again. Ran in a lot of rain a few days before. Hoping the grease sealed the connection and solved the problem. Time will tell....

We had a 99 DSDP, and it happened to it on more than one occasion.....found 2 causes for it....1) the remote control connection..damp..dried out & greased it...
2)....in front of gen...where the black strip( with breaker,hr meter) met the green case of the gen...there is a small gap...and water was dripping thru that area onto the controls in the gen itself( found the water coming from the coach a/c).....we ran some silicone sealant in the gap...cured the problem......Chuck

X2 Batt Chief....we had the same issue several years ago, cleaned the contact harness top of the generator and applied dielectric grease and no issues since.
