Generator upgrade

Am looking to buy a 2013 ventana 4346. Will Newmar put a 10000 watt generator in a 43 foot ventana? Worry that 8000 watt will not be enough for total electric and 3AC.

You may have to give Newmar a call and ask them directly. They'll do most things, but hard to say for sure.

I would seriously consider having them install the 12500 gennie, if available, for the type of rig your considering. All electric and (3) ac's will have the potential of high electrical demands for the gennie when needed.

Channelsyde - You're wise to try for a larger gen. We had an 06 Dutchstar with 2 AC's and an 8KW gen. I thought we'd have plenty of KW---8KW translates to about 66 amps---but we often tripped the gen breakers because your power is divided between two legs. We'd have both AC's running, turn on the microwave and trip the breaker. We overloaded one leg. With an all electric unit and 3 AC's a 7.5 or 8 KW gen would be marginal at best.

We tested the Onan and the Power Tech 8kw Jennys before ordering our coach. The Onan would shut down with 3ACs on, but the Power Tech which we have had for seven years works fine with all 3ACs(they do not/will not start up at the same time but run fine at the same time).

Would check with Newmar as they are willing to do many types of changes/mods/etc. when ordering a new coach.

We will be spending two days at the Tampa rv show next week. Hope to spend some time talking to the Newmar reps. Thank you for your input. I"m still deciding between the phaeton and the ventana.

I think that the phaeton would be a better comparison to the Dutch star.

Dean. Do you think that the level of the phaeton is that much above the ventana? I was thinking that the ventana and phaeton were about the same except the engine.

To be completely honest I'm not totally up to speed on the chassis/engine for the ventana. The Phaeton has a rear radiator while the Dutch Star has side radiator. I have been in all three and would just comment that to me I felt like the Phaeton was step up from the Ventana on the level of the interior. But hey that's just my take on it. You'll have the chance to inspect them all in Tampa next week.
