Left Virginia this morning running the genset and made it to GA and the genset cut off...Stopped in a rest stop and checked the oil and added about a quart, but the coolant was ok...
Called Jason and learned there is a breaker that controls an auxillary cooling fan which is located in the #2 off door side compartment.
Found and reset this breaker and the genset ran about twenty minutes and shut down...The next time we stopped, same thing...
I kept checking the fan and the best "idea" I can come up with is that there's an issue with the supplemental fan causing it not to stay on.
Jason is going to call PowerTech and get some advice and mentioned I may have to meet someone after the Daytona trip...I won't need the genset at all next week as I'll have 50A...

Note...while typing this the genset quit, but did not trip the breaker,so I waited a few minutes and it started right back up.

I am posting this more for info than an answer and am certain I am in good hands.

Could've been that Stevie,or maybe the oil finally got to where it needed to be,as the genset ran all night and is running now...

This must be a popular stopover as there are no less than seven different rigs here and about half of us are towing the telltale signs of heading to Daytona.

Bob if this is the first time you have run the genny for a "Long run" I have an idea.....

I assume from your post if is a power tech. I know on most Onan and some power tech's I have seen there is a possibility of an air pocket being in the cooling system. I sometimes have to "Burp" them to make sure the air pocket is removed. When this happens they will do the same thing. They run for a while then shut down due to hight temp. This due to not getting the correct flow thus not enough heat transfer. There is usually a "Bleed" petcock or plug mounted on a "High point" either in the cooling system or on the engine itself to accomplish this.

Might not be the problem, but a possibility.....

Spoke to Jason today and he spoke to Powertech and we determined one of the two cooling fans in the genset "quiet box" is not working.
As I don't really need the generator, Jason is having Powertech get in touch with me some time next week and their local service facility send a tech out...Apparently the genset is kicking off due to high heat, with only the one fan running...

Rain here in Daytona!!
