I have just replaced my entry keypad, but this gremlin is still here...I purposely leave my bay doors unlocked when in my private garage incase a boogie man breaks in and wants to do inventory of my 'stuff'. I'd rather him borrow my stuff than cause 30K damage and THEN borrow it...
Anyway....I heard somewhere that the key fob receiver is the culprit, not the keypad for this issue...something about if ALL the code memory banks are not full of my keyfob code, it can do this ghostly locking activity..anyone know more about this issue and how to fill any remaining memory slots with my fob code???

Hi Larry - Just talked to my service tech last week about this & he said it is the keyfob receiver that is the culprit.

The receiver (located behind the dash cluster) allows programming for 4 separate keyfobs. Newmar programs #'s 1 & 2 to the fobs delivered with the unit but leaves #'s 3 & 4 unprogrammed.

They have found that when all 4 are programmed (they repeat 1 & 2 twice) this stops.

Programming is done by pushing the button on the receiver & then following a set of steps. To wit . .

Here is the procedure according to the data sheet from Marksman M2a Owners & Installation Manual (800-638-3600; Magnadyne).

1. Remove dash cluster by removing 4 screws.
2. Locate box that has 2-wires comming out of it with a valet switch on the end (the tech says it is the only one up there like it - it sits on a wooden shelf.).
3. Turn ignition to 'on' (not start) & push valet switch 6 times (if done correctly horn will sound).
4. Push the lock button on the first fob & hold until horn sounds 1 beep.
5. Push the lock button on the second fob & hold until the horn sounds 2 beeps.
6. Push the lock button on the first fob & hold until horn sounds 3 beeps.
7. Push the lock button on the second fob & hold until the horn sounds 4 beeps.

He assures me that this takes care of the 'gremlin locker'. Since I don't have the second fob with me I'll have to wait until I get home to do this.

Good Luck.

Mark

Mark....you da man Just what I was looking for...I'll try to find that receiver tomorrow.....been behind the cluster a few times but never looked for that particular item...
I noticed you have an 05 Pilot....I do also and have been following various threads about them really NOT being towable even tho the manual says it's ok...have you had any transmission issues? How many towed miles....how much total mileage? I have 54K miles with about 5 K towed...seems ok to me...

I have 63K on the Pilot with about 20K being towed & (knock wood) no sweat. The '05 was the last year Honda said the Pilot was tow-able.

I RELIGIOUSLY follow the pre-tow directions every time we to.

Glad to help - gotta exorcise those gremlins.

Mark

I couldnt stand the suspense, so ran over to the coach with both keyfobs..
I easily found the receiver behind the instruments but had to dig to find the programming button...it was tucked at the very front of the space...moved a few defroster ducts and found it ok....
I reprogrammed as directed in my closed single garage...it's metal....and I left the coach door open..
After each memory slot was programmed, it was a cute little 'honk'..or 2 or 3 or 4...
Then when I turned off the ignition, the system let me know all was well with a BLAT BLAT BLAT !!
This was rather surprising to me and almost scared the dookie out of me.
It was easy to do...about 5 minutes... and hopefully will not allow that ghost to lock anything else ...time will tell..Thanks for your input

All of these "ghostly" occurrences will probably stop after Saturday.
