Neal--

This has been the problem with the Girard awning since it was first introduced. Our MH is much older than those owned by any of the folks posting in this thread, but the problem hasn't changed. When we bought our Beaver one of the first things I learned from others was that "your Girard awning is a "sun shade!" If you want to use it in wind or rain the risk is on you!

Bottom line--it looks beautiful; in order to extend its life--don't use it!!

Wind sensor never worked in present coach, watched how much it flapped, and put it in every time we went away from coach. Previous poster is correct, wind is "now" and if it going to get you it will. Don't count on technology to save you, use common sense.

No. I tried to make that clear. It deployed some time between my walk around and starting to pull out. My engine was off to minimize the noise given how early it was. Cranked to get air up and then turned off. Cranked again right before pulling out. I donít think that there was enough time to deploy after cranking but I just canít be 100% certain. Hope that helps clarify.

I had the coach in for the awning issue I am having, retracts on its own, only in the evening. They re-positioned the awning sensors. They were fine all day yesterday until last evening when they started their random retraction. Back to square one. In my case, the sensor is not just useless, itís renders the entire awning useless.

Maybe automatically retracting in the evening is a nice feature!
