Glad we purchased our Newmar with a Spartan chassis

Newmar owners with with 17 and 18 Spartan chassis on DS, MA, LA, and Essex should be pleased they got their Spartan chassis before the 2019 model year. The 2019 model will have a 3,500 dollar up charge on DS and a 4,900 dollar up charge for the other models. Still well worth the extra charge, but nice to get that premium chassis without the extra cost.

I agree, waited almost 6 months to get a Spartan and would do it again. The $ pump is just icing on the cake

Well the new price for Spartan is about half what it was before 2017.

Does both Spartan and Freightliner chassis get the digital dash for 2019? Is that what the $3,500 is paying for?

Digital display, Safe Haul and it appears they might have moved the filters to the side from the back (filter moving is a wish based on a description on changes)

Maybe more changes....to take into account the loss of disk brakes on back axles.

Both Spartan and FL get digital dash on LA and MA like Essex and KA did in 18 model year.

Well the DS is not quite the same as the Aire digital dashes as far as I can tell at this point.

I think 12” vs 15” on the Aires but do not quote me.

For the extra money, Spartan is now a 5 year chassis warranty vs the 3 year warranty on prior years and current FL chassis. I was told this by several sales reps, but have not actually seen the new material to that effect. Apparently Newmar announced this during the dealer meeting, but has yet to officially announce it.

Here is a link that shows the 5 year / 75k warranty for spartan:

Spartan's K2 450 Chassis for the Newmar Dutch Star (40' and 43')

Same chassis, different coach with 3 Year warranty:
Spartan's K2 450 Chassis for the Entegra Aspire (42' and 44')

And the current Freightliner:

My 2018 Dutch Star brochure shows front axle at 19000# and rear at 20000#. The GAWR and GCWR appear to be different also. Wonder which is correct?

Same 20,000 front axle as our 18 London Aire with same tire but is labeled as 19,000 front axle.

Digital dash!? I would be happy if they had just labeled the instrument gauges in the 2000 Dutch Star
