I have been looking for a Dutch Star with 4 slides & tag and have been offered a New 2007 Dutch Star 4320, which is the model My wife really wanted if we replace our coach. The MRSP on the 2007 is $323K I have a 2005 Dutch Star 4010 2 slide 40'MRSP $249K That I paid $161K for in 05. The dealer will let me keep my basement freezer and tray in the deal. The final price that I could get this unit for with mine traded in is $93K. Good deal or bad deal??

I will let you decide what is good, but the calculation should go as follows:
DSDP list is 323K, if we knock 100K off (just over 30%) then that yeaids 223K. Your cash difference is 93K, so 223 - 93K is 130K, which you are getting for your coach.
Is that good? I think so if you paid 161K for it 3 years ago.
We know road runner just got 27%+ off a ventana, so you could get that same 27%+ off a new order. I used the 100K becasue it was in the ball park and over 30%, so more than any discount you could get on a new coach.
I suspect the 130K for your coach is high (having done no reaserch) just on the gut reaction that 15% a year depreciation from 160 will get you to about 106 in 3 years.
So the real issue is are you getting enough off on the new 07 coach, and if my gut is right and your trade is closer to 100K in value than 130K then you are doing well.

You might also want to check the coach's VDM. A 2007 model year could have been built in May2006 making this a 2 year old coach with the attending battery/tire /lot-rot issues you might want to consider as well. Might be a little more leverage for you too. Of course, it could have a VDM of May2007 making it only one year old too..

One question, is this difference out the door, after tax/license, etc...? Or is the this base price difference? And if it is out the door, what are your taxing and licensing rates?
