any one else bought goodyear size 22 1/2 tires ? just bought 4 new ones and hope to have great luck with them. Had no luck at all with the michelins that newmar put on in 2005, after 3 years had the two front ones replaced because of bad side wall cracking and they had been covered the whole time since new. Also the back 4 were cracking on the side walls.
So I reasearched several dealers with selling all differnent brand tires and had two dealers say dont buy michlelins out here in the western state they have too much silicone in them that resullts in the side walls cracking.

There are two links about tires of both MFG's in Quick tips.
They have tire pressure tables that after your coach is weight the tables will tell you what pressures to use.
I have had good luck with my Michelins 8 years old never a blow out but I live on east coast not in west.
Never heard about silicone in tire being a problem.

Desertbound 1,
What model Michlins did you have from Newmar?
If the MH was an '05 and you just replaced them in '11 thats about 7 years + or -.
Did you inflate to the recommended psi based on the actual measured weight? Did you regularly check the pressure?
I have always had Michlins on MH's for over 15 years with never a problem.
On my '01 DSDP I had over 85,000 miles and over 6 years with no cracking. Nearly all time spent in the west or east in summer. No wheel covers, but plenty of 303.
I am sure there are other good tires out there, but I take good care of mine as they are the best safety device on the vehicle, so I will stay with Michlins.

Have always maintained the proper air pressure on the michellin tires.
They have always been covered as stated.
I will have to look tomorrow at the exact numbers on the michellins.
Today when I got the 4 new goodyear they filled them with nitrogen.
Yes, I also used plenty of 303 on them also.
Had to replace the front two michellins after 3 years, because of side wall cracks.
The coach is a 05 dutchstar so its 6 years old not 7 plus years.

The tires could be a year or more older than the MH manufacturing date.
Last Sept I replaced all the tires on our 2002 DSDP, they were about 8 years old and the fronts had been run underinflated according to Michelins tire charts. When Newmar had Spartan replace the front 12,000# axle with a 14,600# unit the left the original tires on. That meant that I had to run 125 psi in the tires, but the wheels limited that to 120 so Michelin gave ua a letter on their letterhead allowing the tires to be rated for 13,600#'s with only 120 psi rather than the 125 on their charts.
Watch the tires for the "revering" problem that GoodYears are experiencing. It'll ruin the tires in short order and GoodYear won't warranty them.

Could you explain what "revering " is??
because of living in a hot dry climate michelilins dont work out here they are fine where their is humidity.

the michellin tires that newmar put on the coach in 05
are 275/70r/22.5 xza1 was the model number
these tires cracked on the sidewalls and had to be replaced after 3 years.
I was told by the dealer when i bought the 4 new goodyear for the rear that it was because its so dry out in the west.
tires with allot of silicone in them develop side wall cracks.
michellin tires are fine where their is humidty.

I had a 2007 Travel Supreme with Michelins with a 2006 build date. They cracked, especially the steers and needed replacement by 2011, hardly a good recommendation for a heavy, expensive truck tire that should go a minimum of 7 years and really should go 8-10 years. They ride nice but are certainly subject to sidewall cracking long before they should, not all do but many do. All just my experience and opinion.
