Got the Fan-Tastic fan

Received the parts for the fan yesterday. Read all the instructions this morning.
First question: we have a fan with the rain sensor. Instructions are to unscrew it on top of the fan. What exactly am I looking for?
Second question: the rain sensor is to be partially fed through the T-slot. Will I recognize the T-slot when I'm on the roof and looking inside the fan assembly?
More questions to come, I'm sure.
Must wait until Monday when there's almost no chance of rain. Don't want to be working on the roof in wet weather.
Thanks ahead of time!

When you have cover opened while up on roof the sensor on mine has a brass strip that looks like a bunch of zzzzzz not sure how its attached maybe with a screw.
The slot should show when you start to disassemble the housing for fan.
Is the fan just defective maybe you can just disassemble that and replace with the new fan, I believe its all plugged together so would just remove screws for fan.
