I'm considering a Grand Star, specifically a FRED chassis model. I found references to design flaws in the 3750 model that caused the rear tires to be damaged.
Does anyone know if this problem was limited to the 3750 model or did it cross the model line.
Thanks

Actually I found some info right here in the forum, the problem was reported by some Grand Star 3750 owners. Just wondered if it was a manufacturing problem that was corrected, a problem that is still out there and if it was a problem across other Grand Star models.

There have been problems with the jacks on the Grand Star chassis's gas or Fred.
The 2009/2010 Grand Star is no longer made but the now Canyon Star has the same electric jacks on both gas & Fred chassis's.
There was no option to get the HWH Jack systems installed on any of the different coach model years.

Yes, there were problems with some. The flooring and supporting hardware between the inner rear tires was too wide, causing body contact/wear with the tire walls. Severity seemed to vary from unit to unit. Mine had significant wear at 5k miles, on another I found, the problem was not evident until 20k. Newmar fixed at the factory in March 2010 (on 08 3750). At the time of repair, three others were waiting or in the process of being fixed. Fix was to remove/replace two inner tires, undo supporting hardware, trim back plywood floor to make more narrow, then re-seal and put back together. No problems since. Newmar employees were fantastic, dealing with the higher-ups to accomplish this, less so. Overall, great unit, unique layout, no other significant problems. Good luck.

Its interesting the Newmar execs gave you a hard time fixing an obvious flaw, maybe the NTSHA complaints helped. Thanks for the feedback. I like the 3750 except no place for a Washer/Dryer.
