Footdoc,

The answer to your question is yes...most likely it will happen again. I had the same thing happen a few times in our Essex.

My understanding of the problem is this: The brain for the keyless entry has four available slots for input devices. The coach comes with two fobs. The two fobs are programed into the controller. If the other two slots are left unprogramed, the gremlin will appear from time to time.

The fix (as I understand it) is: Program all four slots with the two fobs...Each fob gets programmed into two slots. That's what Newmar did to fix our gremlins.

Good Luck

Sebastian

When our coach was brand new, this happened to us the first time before we left the dealer's lot. We were logging the events and it grew to many times a day. On our next turn at the dealership a couple of months later we met a couple buying a new coach and trading in their 3 year old Essex and he mentioned that his old coach had just started doing this too.

The fix for ours was a new controller. However, there is a hard reset process that might have done the trick had us or the tech known about it before the controller replacement. I can email that step by step process to you if you are interested.

BTW, before being fixed ours would LOCK and UNLOCK the coach several times a day. Until you are sure it is fixed, it would be a good idea to have keys on you when you exit.
