The 3000 to 3200 kelvin temp lighting is more natural than the standard 2800 kelvin. Now with a good power rating to the device you can have comfortable lighting. The retrofit in the post above looks great! Good job.

Our coach has 56 puck lights.

Six 921, 3 at each medicine cabinet. Plus engine, genny and all basement lights.

Four 1076 reading bulbs.

So many different bulbs I ended up making a map of them.

Where did you get your replacements? I want to replace my 921's but they are around $20 ea for the 3000-3200 Kelvin temperature. Those that don't give specs I don't trust the quality or color.

I got those directly from the Newmar parts department. I think they were around $12 at the time.

If you click on the pic it will blow up. Labeled whom I bought each set of lights from.

Rick,

If you're still looking for 921 replacements, here's two good options:

(1) I got these from LEDWholesalers in Warm White and have been very happy with them:

www.LEDwholesalers.com - Brightest Tower Type T10 18 SMD LED 5050 12V Ac/dc

I use them in the fixture over the kitchen table and over the bathroom vanity… they provide a nice amount of warm white light… very much like the 921's, but just a bit brighter. At $15/each, they're a little cheaper than what you've found and a little more than what PDR John may have paid through Newmar.

(2) If I didn't already have the above mentioned lights, I'd order from M4Products.com. They have 24 SMD lights that put out 320 lumen (the ones above are 18 SMD and 252 lumen) for only $9.99!! Check 'em out here:

Quality RV LED Retrofit Light Bulb with Wedge Base

Hope you have fun with the upgrade!

LEDs

Wow, some folks have really done the LED. We switched over entirely for LEDs except for main baggage storage. Left these as halogen just in case we are on shore power and it is quite cold. Turning these on keeps the basement, water lines and holding tanks from freezing at temps above 15 (we have found out). We primarily boondock with full solar (1400 W and 9.7 kW-hours of lithium ferrophosphate batteries) and power management is very important to us while boondocking (90% of the time - the rest is primarily dry camping). There is a tremendous difference in power consumption. Outside flood lights are now about 0.5 amps as opposed to 10. They are probably not cost effective if one is always tied to shore power.

Never thought about heating the basement with the lights. Great idea.

I have just started replacing my ceiling lamps with LED. The ones I just got are not as white as I would like but not as red as the halogen type. The light is good and uniform and the cost was $31 for 10 delivered. These are G4 type.

What do you do about your propane in cold weather? I know the pressure can drop. Any problems there? Personally, we avoid cold! If it gets below freezing for very long, a day or two, it must be that we are heading into a ice age. I did not choose a location that is prone to that.
