Yes, keep a key in the Basement - much easier to break into.
Also keep a full set in the Toad.

Yep. Happened last week on our 2017 DSDP 4369. One reason was a short in wiring in one of cargo bays locks. Keypad still won't open the door do they're going to replace the door actuator.

"NealC"......Just a thought......do you ever go camping in the wilderness......like a place where OnStar won't work? Have you ever locked your phone in your car? For the above reasons, I took a key for the coach door and placed it in one of those magnetic key holders. Since you engine compartment doesn't lock, there a bunch of places to place a magnetic key holder that wont fall off.

....And this is why I asked. Can I trust this remote keypad. On a car I wouldn't think twice but RV's seem to have a way of continually entertaining us. I guess I will hide a key or take my toad keys with me from now on at least when in a remote area. Good options presented in this conversation, I'll explore them to see what works best.

A real locksmith - not everywhere - but if you find one he will likely need to order the blank - to make - Often the Factory will have blanks and will sell them to you if they do not have them already made.
So one in the Toad - One in the Basement - one in my pocket - yes and I've still been locked out. Small kids can help. ... .
Oh the fun of the RV,

Generally, a "real" locksmith .... there is usually one in medium sized towns. I had a set made for about $2.50 per key. Google "locksmith" in your area.

November is a long way ... get an extra door key soon. Been there ...
Also, wouldn't consider not using the deadbolt on ours (residential style) ... just sayin'....
BTW, have you read the recent thread on "flamin' " actuators ?

Sometimes, I think we believe technology is the answer to everything. It is not. Simple can frequently be the best option. "Old-fashioned" metal keys don't need batteries or blue-tooth connections and the like.
Even they, however, can fail if the lock mechanism gets mucked up. I'll take my chances with mechanical locks and keys, however; whether for entry doors or bay doors.

Been locked put of our Dutch Star twice by bad lock mechanism. I'll try on a backup system In my case a switch concealed in the bay that opens the drivers power window. I don't like breaking windows.
