Question Has the entry door keypad ever failed you?

I rely on this keypad, I NEVER take keys with me. Anyone ever had the entry door keypad fail?

Anything designed and built by man , can fail !

Several posts about the lock solenoid in the door not getting power .

Hide extra keys to the coach in your toad .

Just in case I always keep a spare set of keys to the coach in the jeep, and a spare set of jeep keys in the coach. An ounce of prevention...

Yes in my 2014 Ventana 4037. While calling Newmar it reset itself and started working. I hide a set of keys on our new coach. On our 2016 DS the lock actually broke and we had to break the bedroom window so I installed an emergency switch that opens the power window on the drivers side.

I do keep a spare set in the toad and I can unlock the toad via onstar via my phone so all is good there.

Yes it has, but it was due to the coach batteries being dead. It wouldn't work for a while and even now it works about 90% of the time. We always take the keys now as a precaution in case it is one of those times. The safe also doesn't want to open with the combination now as I think it is due to the same problem. I have thought that I would redo both with new codes to see if that fixes it. Good luck and happy camping.

Doesn't the safe work on a 9 volt battery? Don't have my manual to check.

Yes, there is a battery in the safe, at least the one that came with mine.

That's why there's a key if the battery fails for the safe.

Power for your keyless entry will either come from your house bank, or your chassis bank.
Watched a neighbour have to call two different locksmith's to get into his Prevost, which he had plugged into 50A, the whole time he was away. Offered him a cold beer and grilled burger while he waited in his Beemer waiting for the second locksmith, but he declined the offer !

Anything can happen!!

It will eventually fail. Mine took a few years but is dead now. I use a lockbox that is similar to real estate lockbox and attached to frame in engine compartment.

I think we had ours home about a week...and my wife found it not working. The key fob, the remote keypad, even the armrest switch for the cargo locks...nothing.

I called Newmar and described what happened...they told me a technician would have to troubleshoot. So I scheduled an appointment with our local shop. Three weeks was the soonest. I then thought...what would ai do in an Airbus? (on the ground). Turn it off and back on again. So I found a couple of system related fuses in the compartment under the drivers seat...pulled them, waited a minute, and plugged them back in. Everything worked again.

We do keep a set of keys accessible should it lock us out. It has been performing flawlessly, ever since.
