Does any one know of an upgrade from Newmar so I can get HD and not have to buy a stand alone dish??

We have found that antenna reception is fine most places we go. Some of the programming is HD I believe and all is digital now so reception is always crystal clear. In some areas we got dozens of stations.

Newmar is installing an optional Winegard Trav'ler on new units. You can call Newmar service and see if they will do a retrofit.

However, you will most likely be better off contacting a RV satellite dealer.

bris48,

#1- Are your TV's High Definition (HD) ready? They might be LCD's, but '04-'05's might not have been HD ready. ("Digital" and "HD" are two seperate things).

#2- Camping World offers the Winegard Trav'ler 5 LNB antenna. This means it picks up 5 satellites, including the HD ones (DirecTv). It is automatic in it's operation- but only in the RV stationary, parked, environment- as long as it has an unobstructed view of the southern sky. This is a great unit- I have one almost two years old now. Look for CW sales. It'll cost close to $2000 installed on the roof of your rig. You can do this with a tripod stand also.

3- The crank up "Batwing Antenna" will get you some HD signals near larger cities.

Snap one of these units on your existing ant. and you will have HD on your TV. Was able to pick up many stations in Nappanee without putting up the antenna.
