Ed B, I do the same thing however I have a spare DTV receiver I keep in the motorhome. I use a round dish on a tripod on the ground. It has a single LNB on the arm. You are not going to be able to receive HD signals with the round dish regardless of the fact that you have an HD TV in the motorhome.
If you take a look at the HD antenna at the house you will see it has 3 LNB elements. The dish on the RV only has 1. Am I correct about that? In order to get HD TV I believe the way it works is you have to hit more than 1 antenna simultaneously and that's why you need those multiple LNBs. The HP antenna is also skewed a bit and oval. The shape and angle are also part of the HD reception schema.
Essentially you need an HD antenna in order to receive HD programming.
