HD satellite antenna

We presently have a Winegard crank up satellite antenna on our coach. We bring the DirectTV HD box from the house and hook it up in the motor home when we travel. The motor home has an 18" round reflector and the house has a larger oval reflector. I can program the box to accept the round reflector but do not receive any HD channels. The TVs are HD TVs.

Question? Is there any way that the present crank up satellite antenna can be adapted to receive HD signal? Is there a reflector and/or LNB that I can use to adapt my present antenna?

I know there is probably an optiion to replace the entire unit with one for much dinero, but I would like to do it economically.

Ed B, I do the same thing however I have a spare DTV receiver I keep in the motorhome. I use a round dish on a tripod on the ground. It has a single LNB on the arm. You are not going to be able to receive HD signals with the round dish regardless of the fact that you have an HD TV in the motorhome.

If you take a look at the HD antenna at the house you will see it has 3 LNB elements. The dish on the RV only has 1. Am I correct about that? In order to get HD TV I believe the way it works is you have to hit more than 1 antenna simultaneously and that's why you need those multiple LNBs. The HP antenna is also skewed a bit and oval. The shape and angle are also part of the HD reception schema.

Essentially you need an HD antenna in order to receive HD programming.

You could take the antenna from the house with you and set it up on a tripod. I don't know of any way to modify the old antenna to receive HD signals.
